MEDIA ADVISORY: Members of Congress to Host Bipartisan Press Conference and Panel on Border Business

Washington, D.C. – On Monday, January 23, 2017, Members of Congress, in collaboration with the Congressional Border Caucus, will host a press conference, followed by a hearing titled “Border Business is America’s Business.”

During the panel, stakeholders and entrepreneurs from across the Country, including representatives from the automotive and manufacturing industries, universities, and local Chambers of Commerce, will discuss the importance of commerce along the border and its value in promoting the economic growth and competitiveness of the United States.

Commerce along the U.S.-Mexico border fosters economic growth and innovation for the United States as a whole. Mexico is the United States’ second-largest export market and third-largest trading partner, and in 2015, two-way trade in goods and services was $583.6 billion. Trade with Mexico supports 5 million U.S. Jobs, meaning that one in every 29 workers in the nation depends on U.S.-Mexico trade for their employment. Every $1 billion in exports from the U.S. to Mexico supports more than 6,000 additional jobs throughout our country.

This event will be live streamed.
