Two border congressmen have extended an invitation for president Obama to witness firsthand the hundreds of undocumented immigrants being detained in cramped conditions at detention facilities across the Rio Grande Valley.

U.S. representative Filemon B. Vela Junior of Brownsville and U.S. representative Ruben Hinojosa of McAllen sent this letter to the president Monday suggesting that he visit south Texas during his upcoming trip to Texas.

Both congressmen applaud the work of homeland security employees during the crisis, and say more work remains to be done.

In the letter, the congressmen say -Quote – “We know that you share our interest in caring for these young migrants while addressing the root causes which have driven them to leave their homes and seek refuge in the United States, and we look forward to seeing you in Texas.” – End quote.
