I have heard from many of my constituents who are stuck overseas, or who have family members who are stuck overseas. During these uncertain times, I know how important it is to get you or your loved one back home, safe and sound. That’s why my staff and I are doing everything in our power to help.
If you are an American citizen who was traveling abroad and you are unable to leave a foreign country due to Coronavirus travel restrictions, you must first enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP), http://step.state.gov which is the Department of State’s system for registering and communicating with U.S. citizens abroad. Enrolling through STEP will ensure that you receive all Embassy travel updates, including information on any scheduled flights back to the United States.
If you have a COVID-19 virus related emergency overseas, you can also contact the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate or call the Department of State’s 24/7 assistance call center at 1-888-407-4747 (within the U.S. or Canada) or 1-202-501-4444 (from overseas).
My office has been assisting constituents abroad. If you are having difficulty with this process, you can also contact my office at 202-225-9901.
