Brownsville, TX—Today the Cameron County Commissioner’s Court approved Resolution No. 2017 for the “consideration and action supporting the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Program and urging the Administration and the U.S. Congress to work on a solution before the program expires.”

Congressman Filemon Vela (D-Cameron County) released the statement below following the approval of Resolution No. 2017:

“I commend the Commissioner’s Court of Cameron County for passing Resolution No. 2017 in support of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. DACA recipients came to this country as children and many only know the United States as their home. As recognized today by Cameron County, Dreamers are essential members of our communities, and our nation has a duty to stand with them. DACA recipients are in every way American and deserve a pathway to citizenship. I am a proud cosponsor of the DREAM Act of 2017 and will continue to fight to let Dreamers remain in their home—the United States—and achieve their full potential.”
