PRESS RELEASE: Vela Announces $5 Million Grant for Nuestra Clinica Del Valle, Inc.
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Funds Will Support Healthcare Services in Lower Rio Grande Valley
WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Filemon Vela, D-Brownsville, announced that Nuestra Clinica Del Valle (NCDV) was awarded a $5,052,356 grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The grant funds will be used to provide health care services to low-income and uninsured patients in the Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas.
“These federal funds will allow NCDV to provide much needed services to residents of Hidalgo and Starr Counties,” said U.S. Rep. Vela. “The work of NCDV is a critical lifeline for individuals with limited means as well as families in need of healthcare services. I congratulate the staff and employees at NCDV on this grant award which validates their work supporting the clinic's mission of providing affordable healthcare to underserved areas in South Texas."
Nuestra Clinica Del Valle provides services to approximately 800,000 residents in Hidalgo and Starr Counties. NCDV offers integrated, accessible primary healthcare services at 11 locations including San Juan, Roma, Rio Grande City, Mission, Alton, Edinburg, Donna, Mercedes and Edcouch. Health services include family and internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, dental, behavioral health, pharmacy, radiology, laboratory, nutrition and social services.
